Nigeria Cybersecurity Conference (NaijaSecCon) is Nigeria’s first of its kind 100% annual technical Cyber security Conference that uniquely merges information about the latest and relevant threats from a Nigerian context with live technical demonstrations and hands-on workshops.
NaijaSecCon2018 is planned to attract over 500 cybersecurity professionals from various industries including Financial Services, Insurance firms, Telecommunications, Oil and Gas, conglomerates, Tech Start-ups, Financial Technology (FinTech) companies, other privately-held organizations and also government Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs)
The first edition of NaijaSecCon held in Lagos on 4th May 2017 and was the highest-rated technical cybersecurity gathering held to date. A vast range of people were in attendance from including national and global Information Security practitioners, enthusiasts, evangelists, penetration testers, crypto-crackers, reverse-engineers, digital forensics analysts, and of course 3lit3 h4ck3r5 in Nigeria.
Training and Mentorship We understand how daunting it may be to get into the information security field or find a niche for yourself after learning the ropes. NaijaSecForce provides a platform for newbies and experts alike to interact in a mutually respectful space and openly share ideas, research materials and provide technical guidance for ethical hacking, cryptography, cyber risk management, reverse engineering, cloud security and malware analysis.
Capture-the-Flag As part of the annual conference, NaijaSecCon holds a Capture-the-Flag (CTF) competition. This is a hacking contest organized for students from tertiary institution with various challenges including: reverse engineering, network security, cryptography, web security, digital forensics. The build-up to the final CTF would involve about participants from tertiary institutions in Nigeria and across Africa battling it out in regional qualifications in a game of security wits, hacks and funs.
All year round, NaijaSecForce to NaijaSecCon through its organisers (members of the NaijaSecForce), actively engages cybersecurity experts and enthusiasts in competing on global and local CTF events.
Technical Review Board Each year, the NaijaSecCon appoints members of the review board from information security experts who have made an impact in the field in Nigeria and across Africa. The Board provides advice to the NaijaSecCon planning committee on the overall structure of the programme and independently reviews and selects speakers based on the relevance, quality, of papers submitted.
